Stater Bros. Charities Supports Patient Care with $5,000 Grant for Telemetry Packs
Lake Arrowhead, CA —
Mountains Community Hospital Foundation is proud to recognize Stater Bros. Charities for a generous $5,000 grant supporting the purchase of 12 portable telemetry packs for the hospital’s Emergency and Medical/Surgical Departments.
Stater Bros. Charities’ contribution played a key role in the acquisition of this critical equipment, joining the Shanahan Family Charitable Foundation in an effort to enhance patient monitoring and safety. These portable telemetry packs allow clinicians to continuously track vital signs such as heart rate, cardiac rhythm, and oxygen levels while patients move freely throughout the hospital.
Each year, Mountains Community Hospital’s Emergency and Medical/Surgical Departments care for approximately 12,000 patients. By enabling mobility without sacrificing real-time monitoring, portable telemetry improves patient comfort, supports recovery, and enhances overall quality of care.
“Portable telemetry has made monitoring our patients easier and more efficient,” said Nick Starr, RN. “I feel confident knowing I can keep track of heart rhythms even when patients are walking the halls.”
Over the years, Stater Bros. Charities has contributed more than $32,000 in grants to Mountains Community Hospital Foundation, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to improving healthcare in the mountain communities.

About Mountains Community Hospital Foundation
The MCH Foundation’s mission is to secure healthcare for the mountain community by providing consistent financial support to Mountains Community Hospital. Many rural community hospitals are little more than first aid stations, and in this cost-cutting environment, many have had to end services altogether, forcing remote populations to face long drives when they need medical attention. However, thanks to gifts from community members and charitable foundations, Mountains Community Hospital is not only surviving, but thriving, and continuing to add services for the people who depend on it.
The Foundation has raised more than $7,400,000 over the past 10 years. Thanks to donor support, last year’s contributions helped fund:
- An advanced ultrasound machine for faster, clearer imaging
- Telemetry packs for the Emergency Department and Med/Surg Unit
- Hoyer lifts and a sit-to-stand lift to improve patient safety and mobility
- A new gift shop for patients, visitors, and staff
- New furniture in the Rural Health Clinic lobby, creating a more welcoming space
