Welcoming Back Dr. Martin to Serve Our Community
July 15, 2025 – We’re excited to announce the return of Dr. Van Martin—a familiar and trusted face in our community—who will be rejoining Mountains Community Hospital as our general surgeon starting September 1, 2025.
Dr. Martin previously served our patients from 2018 – 2022 and during that time, we experienced growth in our surgical services. We are excited to welcome him back and look forward to the expertise, compassion, and continuity of care he brings. After leaving MCH in 2022, Dr. Martin took advantage of an opportunity to live and work as a surgeon in Hawai’i, on the island of Kaua‘i, where he practiced at Wilcox Medical Center. Although he enjoyed his time on the island, he is thrilled to be back serving the San Bernardino Mountains communities.
Dr. Martin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, earned his medical degree from Wayne State University, and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Hawaii. He is board-certified in general surgery and is a member of the American Board of Surgery. His professional interests include acute care surgery, minimally invasive hernia repairs, and nutrition. In his free time, Dr. Martin enjoys everything the mountain has to offer and is especially passionate about hiking, camping, and skiing.
He will be providing a wide range of services, including:
• Minimally invasive hernia repair
• Gallbladder removal
• Colon cancer screening
• Emergency surgeries
We also want to share that our current general surgeon, will be with us through the end of August. We are grateful for his time at MCH and the excellent care he has provided. Appointments are still available and patients are encouraged to schedule as needed.
We will notify the community when Dr. Martin officially begins seeing patients. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please call (909) 336-7490. For additional details on our surgical services, visit MCHcares.com.
Thank you for continuing to trust Mountains Community Hospital for your healthcare needs. We remain committed to strengthening our services and caring for the health of our community.
