A swing bed is a short-term hospital-based care to help you recover when you’re not quite ready to go home. Whether you’re healing from surgery, illnesses, or extended hospitalization, we can help you build strength and confidence close to the people and places you love.

Eligibility Requirements for Swing Bed

The Swing Bed program allows MCH to use its beds to provide post-hospital rehabilitation and skilled nursing care for an extended period of time – typically up to 21 days, but possibly longer.

Our healthcare team of physicians, nurses, therapists, dieticians, social workers, discharge planners and case managers will work with you to set personal health goals and to develop an individualized plan of care to meet these goals.

A 3-day, consecutive stay at any acute care hospital may be required within 30 days of your post-acute care admission. You must also qualify for a continued skilled nursing or rehabilitation need. Post-Acute care is often covered by Medicare, Medi-Cal and many private insurance companies.
