QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to provide all general and regional anesthesia services required by all patients of the hospital on a scheudled, as needed, and emergency basis. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
– Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs
– Five years of current experience required

RESPONSIBILITES
**This is not an all-inclusive list and is subject to change, elimination and addition of responsibilities.
– Perform and document the preanesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient
– Review and request laboratory/diagnostic studies as needed to ensure safe anesthesia administration
– Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services
– Develop and implement an anesthesia care plan, individualized to each patient
– Work with and communicate with hospital physicians and surgeons to ensure each patient is properly cared for
– Select, obtain, prepare, and use equipment, invasive and non-invasive monitors, supplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation, anesthesia, and pain management services
– Provide postanesthesia follow-up evaluation and care
– Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and using basic and advanced cardiac life support techiniques
– Perform and document preoperative/preprocedure evaluation, anesthesia care, pain management care, and postoperative/postprocedure evaluation in a thorough, consistent, and timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities
– Develop, review and maintain Anesthesia Department policies and procedures
– Review and respond to anesthesia-related Quality Review Reports
– Ensure proper completion and timely submission of patient billing reports
– Develop and maintain Anesthesia Department staff schedule

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
– Holds current active status licensure as a registered nurse and Nurse Anesthetist in the State of California
– Current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
– Current American Heart Association certifications in Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support
